Other than light marginal browning, very good. Rare pamphlet. Contemporary ink ownership inscription of F. Vassault, apparently of the pioneering San Francisco family of that surname.

In reality Hittell had announced in the Century Illustrated Magazine for February 1891 his conclusion that gold was discovered on January 24, 1848, (see item 31 herein), even reproducing the page from Bigler’s diary that is used here. ($150-300)
