Virgin of Guadalupe Ephemera-including 1815 Sheet Calendar

248. [VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE] Lot of nine ephemeral Mexican publications relating to the Virgin of Guadalupe. Specific measurements and descriptions are given below. Unless otherwise indicated, each is fine.

[1] [SHEET CALENDAR]. ZUÑIGA Y OTIVEROS, Mariano Joseph de.  Calendario Dispuesto por Don Mariano Joseph de Zuñiga y Ontiveros Agrimensor por S. M. (Q.D.G.) Para el Año del Señor de 1815. Los Seis Meses Primeros [Los Seis Meses Segundos]. [Mexico City]: Zuñiga y Otiveros, 1815. [2] pp. Oblong folio (31.5 x 43.5 cm), in seven columns in typographical border, with woodcut of the Virgin of Guadalupe on recto at top and San Felipe de Jesús on verso. Creased where formerly folded, some edge chipping with small losses barely touching border, a few light stains, small split in lower crease extending into text (no losses), a few wormholes touching some letters.

First edition. Cf. Medina, Mexico 11107, listing this same publication in pamphlet form. An almanac listing phases of the moon, weather predictions, and other standard meteorological information in additon to feast days and other important Catholic events. Surviving Mexican sheet calendars in any condition are extremely rare. As the condition of the corners indicates, this copy seems to have been tacked up to a wall or door for reference.
