Contemporary ink inscription on upper wrapper: “La Catedral de Mco. Historia sobre la guerra con los Estados Unidos.” Wraps lightly worn and chipped, light waterstaining to text. Rare. First edition. Connor & Faulk, North America Divided 347n. Garrett & Goodwin, The Mexican-American War, p. 13 (listing only 1849 calendar). Howes R397 (citing only the 1849 calendar). Tutorow 3258: “Originally published in 1848. Excellent history of the Mexican War.” Not in Palau. This almanac contains a detailed account of events from the beginning of unrest in Texas before the Texas Revolution until the surrender of Santa-Anna at the Zócalo. The work was carried forward in the 1849 Rodríguez almanac. The tone of the narrative is angry and regretful, and the United States is excoriated. A 1941 reprint (limited to 450 copies) contains both sections. ($200-400)
