Lettered in white at bottom: Gov. Neff Addressing Men of the 72nd Brigade Camp Mabry. Tex- 1923. W.L. Daniel | Brownwood. T. Brownwood, Texas, 1923. Ca. 2 cm tear at lower right, tiny tear at lower left, a few small areas of scuffing and chips to emulsion (mostly confined to edges), browned at lower, left, and right edges, a few tiny printing flaws, overall good condition. Unattributed image, aerial view of Camp Mabry, military tent encampment. Gelatin silver print mounted on card. Image: 10.6 x 16.2 cm; card (irregular): 14 x approximately 16.5 cm. Contemporary ink inscription below image: First Texas Cavalry Camp Mabry Austin Tex. N.p., n.d. [ca. 1892-1895]. Image lightly scratched with a few small stains, card browned with tear in lower edge (not affecting image) and a few scattered fox marks, otherwise good condition. Founded in 1892 in northwest Austin, Camp Mabry has since served as a staging or service facility in practically every major war. It currently houses a large number of offices of various organizations. ($30-60)
