Pingenot: Contains an extensive report by Major Heintzelman, 1st Infantry, commanding the Brownsville expedition against Cortina; letters from Governor Sam Houston to the Secretary of War; and numerous letters and reports by departmental commander Lt. Col. Robert E. Lee concerning military operations in Texas and along the Rio Grande. Included also are depositions from citizens who suffered losses from raids by Cortina and his brigands. Excellent content and a scarce government document. Not in any bibliography.
