Spinal extremities lightly chipped, blank preliminary and terminal leaves moderately foxed, generally fine. Author’s presentation copy: "For W. Harris[?] From Rt. Rev. Bishop Kip of California."

Soliday Sale II 721: "Life at Forts Dalles, Walla Walla, Taylor, and at the Coeur d’Alene, Spokan, and Pelouze Council. The author took part in the battles of Four Lakes and Spokan Plains." Tweney, Washington 89 40: "Kip was an Army officer who participated in the 1858 campaign against the northwestern tribes. This is by far the best account of that campaign." The author later became the first Episcopal Bishop of California.
