CATALOGUE 10, Part 3
THE LIBRARY AND WORK OF CARL HERTZOG, PRINTER AT THE PASS

This catalogue contains over 1,100 items relating to the life and work of master printer Carl Hertzog. The first section of the catalogue (1-536) contains works printed, designed, or written by Carl Hertzog. Included are many presentation copies and printer's own copies, along with some special proofs and early design states for books, such as Tom Lea's THE KING RANCH. The remainder of the catalogue is the library of Carl and Vivian Hertzog, again with many interesting presentation copies. This group, which sheds light on the life, work, and creative processes of Carl Hertzog, will be offered en bloc.

This collection consists of material from two sources: Carl Hertzog's own library; and Hertzog material from the collection of long-time bookseller Dudley R. Dobie. The Hertzog Catalogue is the third catalogue in the series of catalogues that we are creating from the Dudley R. Dobie collection, this being Part 3 of Catalogue 10. The Hertzog catalogue is designed and printed in the same style as the two previous Dobie catalogues, and is the same size.

The Hertzog catalogue is enhanced by an introductory essay by Al Lowman, a cross-reference finding tool for locating bibliographical entries in Lowman's bibliography of Hertzog's work, sources cited, and an index. The catalogue was designed by Eric Beggs and printed by David Holman at Wind River Press. Five hundred twenty-five copies were printed, twenty-five of which will be numbered and specially bound in cloth. The price of the regular edition is $50 (plus tax), and the limited edition is $125 (plus tax).
