(10-1/2 x 8-5/8 inches), heavy wove paper, tissue guards. Original hand-bound brown mottled paper-covered boards, etched label on upper cover, remains of etched label on spine. Presentation copy: "To Geo. W. Stewart Esq. on a day, dark & rainy, looking forward to a brighter one tomorrow. Very sincerely Bernhardt Wall, Sept 24, 1923." Wall's autograph letter signed (on etched stationery illustrating his studio in New Preston, Connecticut), to Stewart dated 6.18.24, telling him that he has relocated to Connecticut and forwarding a copy of one of his books.
Limited edition (#4 of 50 signed copies). Weber, p. 34: "With the exception of the etched preliminary and terminal pages, the prints in this volume are taken from earlier volumes." Included among the etched views are New York Public Library, the Grolier Club, Washington Square and Arch, the Vanderbilt residence, the Flatiron Building, MacDougall Alley, Poe's cottage, etc. Unfortunately, many of the copies of this work were cannibalized by print dealers over the years, and a complete copy like the present one is exceedingly difficult to find. 70000048
