Nebst Officiellen Regierungsberichten, einigen Angaben aus Amerikanischen Blättern und einem Schlussworte von A. Hamburg: [Druck von Yehmann & Birsmann, for]: B. S. Berendsohn, 1849. 32 pp. 8vo, disbound, new sympathetic paper spine. Friable paper with marginal chipping costing a few letters at lower margin of last leaf (needs stabilization). Unopened copy of a Gold Rush rarity, which when found, is in similar condition.

     First German edition? Cowan II, p. 75. Howell, California 50:1471: “There were three German editions of this work published in 1849 at Hamburg, Leipzig, and Zurich. No priority of these printings has been established.” Howes V134. Kurutz 653f. Randall & Windle 8:487: “The most delicious hoax of the Gold Rush.” ($500-1,000)
