Pingenot: One of the best personal accounts of cavalry service and wagon freighting on the plains, from Fort Leavenworth to Fort Laramie, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Santa Fe. After his army service, Lowe continued to travel the Santa Fe Trail as a freight contractor until 1870.
