Front hinge cracked, moderate binding wear (extremities frayed), spine light and repaired. Association copy. Ownership signature, annotations, additions, and corrections by Samuel J. P. McDowell of Caldwell County, a member of the Callahan Expedition. McDowell’s notes are found on the title-page and sixteen other pages, and primarily relate to battles in which he personally participated.
         First edition, first issue. Another copy of preceding, with excellent association value.
