Contains correspondence to and from Mason, Stockton, Pablo de la Guerra, José M. Flores, José Castro, Frémont, Andrés Pico, and others covering the conquest of California. The earliest correspondence is from September 18, 1846; the latest is January 11, 1847. Includes reports of the killed and wounded during the Battles of San Gabriel and La Mesa, which were the only significant actions American troops saw during the whole campaign.
