Steel engravings. 4 vols. 8vo (22.5 x 15 cm), original three-quarter sheep over green marbled cloth, spines gilt lettered, edges sprinkled. Bindings rubbed. Scattered light to moderate foxing, otherwise a very good set. Each volume with contemporary ink inscription on front flyleaf.

First editions.

Each volume contains articles about the war. Importantly, Vol VI contains the first appearance of Edgar Allan Poe’s “Ulalume” (pp. 599-600).
