Correspondence to and from Buchanan, Pacheco, Trist, and the Mexican commissioners concerning the failed truce negotiations that occurred when U.S. troops were knocking at the door of Mexico City. Scott eventually believed them to be a ruse by Santa-Anna to buy time to strengthen his defenses and called them off.
