Translation of most of President Polk’s message of December, 1847, to Congress, after the conclusion of hostilities but before the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed. Polk promises continued American resolution and military effort until peace is finally achieved. This message would have been of consuming interest in Mexico.
